There is elegance in simplicity...
Let's break a potential paradigm...which may change the way we perceive reality...
Consider that gravity is not an energy...but the "elasticity" of the fabric of the 3rd dimension and its desire to revert to the singularity...an interesting issue arises with Hawking's event horizon and the problems related to the retention of information...
As we look for a logical explanation...let's begin with a simple understanding of the meaning of information...
Information exists as a result of its existence in 3 dimensions...it is simply a proportional, positional and directional reference...
Given this definition...as long as matter exists in 3 dimensions...it possesses information
If matter moves from 3 dimensions to the singularity...it no longer contains that required references for information...and information simply ceases to exist...
What?
In the singularity...there is no proportion, position or direction! Therefore...no information...
This leads us deeper into other interesting thoughts...
One interesting concept is that Hubble's law may simply be a distortion of information caused by the non-uniform elasticity within this dimension!
This is actually consistent with the aforementioned singularity thoughts!
The further from the singularity that matter is...the more stretched it is...as a result its information is distorted (stretched) and the perception is a "red-shift"

How Big is the Singularity?
Elegance is found in Simplicity...
This entire entry is theoretical...I currently have no basis for these thoughts...but are presenting them to begin a discussion in simplicity...

The individual that discovers the single equation that explains the working of the universe (the Grand Unification Theory) will be lauded unlike any physicist that has ever lived...
The equation is envisioned as being extremely simple...not unlike E=MC2.
Consider the fact that the equation is as simple as "1"
I am not advocating that equation...but used the prior as a lead-in to the discussion related to the singularity...
As I consider the theory of "black holes"...objects so dense that light cannot escape it...
Black holes however should not be confused with the singularity...
Why do I say this?
Because they still possess size...
As long as black holes possess the "size" characteristic they are three dimensional...as long as they are three dimensional...they have not entered the realm of the singularity...

What is the singularity?
Simply stated it is a single point...
It is the point from which all things emanated at the "BIG" bang!
If you recall from your very first geometry class...a point contains no size...
The singularity transcends our dimension (3rd) yet our dimension is based entirely upon it...
Much like our universe is based upon quantum level entities...

Let's travel back to a point in time prior to the creation of the universe...(our 3 dimensions)
There existed "1"
The singularity...
All that was...is...and will be was within this "1"
Because it lacked size...speed is an impossible concept...
The speed of light..."0" inside of the singularity...
In fact...there is no outside of the singularity...
This brings up a mind boggling concept...that it is infinitely large within the singularity...
Yet...the singularity is infinitely small...
The singularity is the only reality...
So let's travel to the point when the "BANG" occurred...
That is when the void and without form (1 dimension) "took shape!"
That is when for some reason...not yet understood...energy suddenly existed...
Light!
Mass at the speed of light!
The singularity warped into 3 dimensions...
Up...down...forward...backward...left and right...
That which had no dimension was stretched every which way but loose...(ha!ha!)
The further from the singularity the more the stretch!
Yet the universe's tendency is elastic...a desire (for lack of better terms) to return to the singularity...
Stretch out...snap back!
In fact...that elastic tendency is the force that we call "gravity"
The fact that gravity is the "energy of the singularity" and actuality what happens when all things reside within the singularity...it is "weak" and cannot be equated with "weak atomic" "molecular/atomic" and electro-magnetic energies...
Existence starts at that point (the singularity) and will end at the same point...
With or without the missing mass...
So...how big is the singularity?
It isn't big at all...
and the speed of light?
It isn't that the gravity is so great that it can't escape...it is that it ceases to move once it enters it...
Why? Because distance ceases to exist...therefore motion does!
This can create some great discussions...why?
Because we have created complex explanations for an existence that begs that of simplicity...
The brilliance will be found within simplicity...
That is if the light can escape!

How Big is our Universe?
Let's logically look at our universe...
Cosmologist and astronomers have worked diligently in ascertaining the size of our universe...
Let's stop for a moment and establish some foundational thoughts...
Our universe...dimension which we'll call the 3rd dimension is comprised of the lower dimensions...(the second and first)...
The singularity (first dimension) theoretically is itself infinite...after that an interesting situation exists...
There is probably not a child alive that (when pondering the size of the universe) has not asked, "What is outside of our universe?"
When the words "universe" and "dimension" are used interchangeably...that question is easily answered!
The size of the universe is exactly the same as our dimension!
What then lies beyond that?
The next dimension!

If our universe (dimension) is expanding...it is expanding into the 4th dimension!
It is limited by the size of the 4th dimension...just as the 2nd dimension is limited by the 3rd!
This leads to an interesting thought!
Answering the question as to an infinitely expanding or ultimately collapsing universe is totally dependent upon the 4th dimension and has no dependence on "missing mass" or any other condition found in this dimension!
OR...
It may be dependent upon the singularity itself...
This is a theory that we'll address in a later post...which is the tendency of the universe to revert to the singularity...and every other dimension being a "warp" or stretch of that single point!
